We Are Departing

Our flights our booked. We leave Boston for Amsterdam on January 31st. If my mom is able to stand by for our British Airways flight, she is going to help us get unpacked and settled in. Colby will stay behind in NH with my parents, and hopefully he can join us next fall. Our first guests have already booked their tickets for a visit in March, so look at your calendars and let us know when you want to reserve our guest room.

Our New Neighborhood!

Joel and I found a place to live in Amsterdam... at least for the next four months! We found a short-term furnished apartment to rent in 'Zuid' or the 'south' of the city near the popular Vondelpark. (see large green space on map - this has been compared to central park)
Finding an apartment was a challenge, since I had never been to Amsterdam and had no sense of the neighborhoods.. The Oud Zuid or Old South section of the city has been compared to Georgetown in Washington, D.C. so I think it will be nice and hopefully safe.
Our plan is to spend the next few months getting to know the neighborhoods before we sign a one year lease. Joel flew over to Amsterdam last week and looked at the apartment and said that except for the three flights of steep stairs up to our front door, it was perfect. I'm going to have buns of steel when I come back to NH this summer!

Our Apartment

Let's hope we can keep those white couches clean!
It's a three bedroom apartment. The guest room is available in exchange for babysitting!
